Mental Health Issues are a PITA

What they don’t tell you when you have a kid is how much they’re going to require from you mentally, as well as physically and emotionally. Or how much it’s going to hurt when they start to try to express their independence from you way too soon. The worst part? You have to let them, because it’s the only way they’re going to learn and grow. I thought the post partum anxiety was bad, it’s got nothing on this.

I took a hiatus rather unexpectedly for my mental health. Wave after wave of bad news had me in a bad place mentally, and I needed to protect myself and my family. They will always come first, and I needed to recharge. I will endeavor to write more often, but I wont make any promises.

While I’ve been away I’ve been thinking about what to do with this blog. On the one hand, I like the idea of structured posts, but I’d also like to use this space to talk about all the changes going on in my life and to connect with my readers on a more personal level. The problem is independent toddlers still require a lot of time and energy, and I have a limited supply of both.

So maybe a combination? I’m not sure. We’ll see.

Enough about me. What have y’all been up to?

Hubby and I recently celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary! We went out to breakfast with the munchkin, and later that evening we went to a movie and dinner sans munchkin! Munchkin has recently acquired his first pair of shoes, and is cruising like a champ. I’ve decided to start a bullet journal and have been busy setting it up for next year. I already have a planner (that I LOVE), so my bullet journal will be focused on mental health, chronic health issue management, and writing. For my 2019 planner I switched it up from a horizontal daily format to vertical, and I’ll be using more stickers as opposed to writing everything out.

We’ve had a couple of snow falls stick, here’s a photo of hubby showing munchkin snow for the first time:

Being the summer baby he is, munchkin buried his hand in hubby’s beard thirty seconds after I snapped this. Mother nature wasn’t done with me yet, I discovered this AFTER the picture above when I was coming back from grocery shopping:

My brother tells me it was a fairly harmless snake and non-venomous, though I didn’t stick around long enough to find out. Snakes are creepy, yuck. It LUNGED at my MiL when she went back out to snap this, thankfully it didn’t actually bite her, but STILL. We live in the suburbs, but we still see a fairly decent amount of wild animals. Mostly bunnies, but every once in a while we’ll see a snake. I always seem to be the unlucky one who stumbles across them. A couple of neighbor kids were outside and came to investigate, it was kind of adorable and terrifying all at the same time.

I hope this post finds all of you well, and that y’all have a wonderful holiday season.
