Throwback Thursday: We’re going to the chapel!

Well, technically speaking we’ve already BEEN to the chapel, but you get the idea 😀

Strap in folks, this ride’s about to get bumpy. If there is one thing you should know about me it’s that I despise being the center of attention. I was diagnosed with anxiety (among other things) a few years before I met Papa Bear. Big crowds and being the center of attention are two of my biggest triggers for a panic attack, so a big wedding was out. If I wasn’t my mom’s only girl, I’d have eloped. I seriously thought about it, but my brother didn’t invite any of our family to his wedding and it broke my mom’s heart, I couldn’t do that to her, so once Papa Bear proposed, wedding planning commenced.

It was a shit show, to be completely honest. Mom wanted a gigantic wedding, I’d have rather had a root canal without an anesthetic. Somehow we managed to make it through planning and the day had finally arrived. I didn’t have a wedding party because I didn’t want to have to choose between friends and family, and Papa Bear was a recluse before he met me so he didn’t have enough friends or family to fill his side, so we opted to just do flower girl/ring bearer only. It was adorable, I loved it ❤

But I needed help corralling my mother, so friends to the rescue. We had a supremely small wedding (less than 50 people) so to save money we opted to just get a bluetooth speaker for the wedding march and reception instead of springing for a DJ. My BFF and lifesaver said, “I have an awesome one, I’ll bring it!” Hurray!

Y’all KNOW what happens next.

She left it at home. 45 minutes away. And we didn’t realize it until 20 minutes before the ceremony was due to start. To her credit, she did remember literally everything else (centerpieces she made included), and one of her kids forgot to put it in the box with all the stuff for the wedding after he finished using it the night before. But I was without a wedding march 20 minutes before I was supposed to walk down the aisle.

Panic doesn’t even begin to come close. I started hyperventilating and had to sit down. My BiL, saint that he is flies to the nearest Best Buy (15 minutes away but he made it in like 7 minutes) and grabs one and makes it back just as I’m getting out of the carriage outside the chapel. The rest of the day went off without a hitch, and I got to marry my best friend, so I’d call that a win!
